The Summary and Highlight
This Project aimed to implement teaching innovation, develop school features, enhance the publicity of higher education, and fulfill social responsibilities. The goal was to cultivate new generations of high-quality talents. We focused on the core of "deep-cultivation skills and ocean navigation", which has been implemented from 2018 to 2022. It showed that with the support of the Higher Education Sprout Project, the teaching quality and innovation strategies have been reflected on the learning effectiveness. The highlights and achievements were shown as follows:
Implementing Teaching Innovation: smart teaching, innovation teaching
Multiple teaching software and hardware resources were established. In addition, the number of students taking the innovative teaching courses and programing design courses were increased substantially. The planning of learning portfolio was reached 99%. With multiple activities, students can understand the social trend and the internship satisfaction of the institutions were increased by years. Through top-notch projects, students can participate in various competitions. In terms of the effectiveness of innovative teaching promoted by teachers, the number of courses, the number of students were all higher than the target values.
Developing School Features:cultivating marine technology, shaping marine features
In terms of industry- academic cooperation and local industries collaboration, the projects of getting over $250,000 subsidy has increased by years. Moreover, we lead students to join the marine ecology camp and international competitions to improve their international competitiveness. Also, the Indonesian students’ outstanding performance got the employment after graduation. With the goal of strengthening teachers’ researching abilities and developing the marine features, the number of applying “Teaching Practice Research” were increased substantially. In addition, we got the subsidy of “2022 University League Digital Learning and Innovation Application Project.” Students’ creating activities and design ideas were improved with holding marine exhibition and lecture sharing experiences. Also students could pay attention to the marine issue through micro-cinema and photograph competitions.
Enhancing the Publicity of Higher Education: character education, smart learning
We actively improved the ratio of economically or culturally disadvantaged students to receive studying opportunities. With caring minority students, providing supporting plans and promoting aboriginal traditions, we established a friendly campus. In addition, with caring enterprise’s help and great donation system, students can get studying opportunities. Also, teachers’ multiple promotion can improve the faculty structure and lower the teacher–student ratio. Through the establishment of institutional research system, we promoted school administration on the basis of evidence to improve the management and strengthen the organization operation.
Fulfilling Social Responsibility: social caring, regional links
To implement service learning, social caring, and character education, we provided various lectures and experiencing activities. In addition, we integrated activities with traffic safety, renting, legal education to develop products and cultivate long-term care facility. Also, we encouraged teachers to participate in industry workshop to integrate with the industries. With the help, teachers also improve the industry-academic cooperation projects. Furthermore, with the blue highway, we can perk up the community. Teachers lead students to learn by doing, training students the abilities of ships operations and water environment guide. Through those activities, the water ecology environment of Shezi Island can develop sustainably.
