The Summary and Highlight
This Project aimed to implement teaching innovation, develop school features, enhance the publicity of higher education, and fulfill social responsibilities. The goal was to cultivate new generations of high-quality talents. We focused on the core of "deep-cultivation skills and ocean navigation", which has been implemented from 2018 to 2021. It showed that with the support of the Higher Education Sprout Project, the teaching quality and innovation strategies have been reflected on the learning effectiveness. The highlights and achievements were shown as follows:
The innovative teaching courses of our school included PBL courses, thematic production courses, simultaneous teaching and collaborative teaching of practitioners, etc. According to the teaching objectives of each course, the identification methods for improving the effectiveness were defined. In terms of the effectiveness of innovative teaching promoted by teachers, with the innovative teaching model, the number of teachers, the number of courses, the number of students were all higher than the target values. In addition, the innovation and entrepreneurship courses and students' learning effectiveness, the improvement of students' operational thinking and programming ability, the improvement of students' Chinese reading and writing ability, and the improvement of professional teachers' practical experience were also higher than the target values.
In terms of industry-academic cooperation, we have developed 35 new cooperative enterprises in 2021, help the cooperative manufacturers to improve their professional technical abilities to solve professional problems. The total subsidy has increased by $3,363,000. Moreover, we also actively assisted teachers to expand the industry-academic cooperation market. The total subsidy for the industry-academic cooperation programs reached $17,582,382 in 2021, an increase of $1,026,582 compared with that in 2020. It increased to 6.2%. In addition, compared with 2020, we increased 7 industry–academic interdisciplinary cooperation plans in 2021. The subsidy reached $3,013,132, with an increase rate of 32.61%. Also, to strengthen the marine features, "Ocean Star Creative Short Film Competition" were extended to new Southbound countries, with a total of 15 entries. “The third Marine Culture Freshwater Historic Sites National Photography Competition and Sand Sculpture Creation Art” was held to implement the promotion of Marine Education.
In order to improve the ratio of economically or culturally disadvantaged students to receive counseling or assistance and strengthen the operation mechanism of Aboriginal Resource Center, the Aboriginal Resource Center assist them to apply for relevant services to construct an ethno-friendly campus. In addition, in terms of teacher promotion, a total of 6 teachers proposed to promote in the first semester of 110 academic year and 3 of them were promoted. Moreover, with the development trend of digital technology, we continued to invest teaching resources for sustainable development. In 2021, an interactive Tamshui Campus guide map interactive App was produced, which clearly depicted the 3D situation.
This sub-project aimed to develop the community construction between teachers and students, promote the disadvantaged groups care, integrate interdisciplinary professional knowledge to improve professional skills, and then expand social competitiveness. The achievements were shown as follows: With the health promotion and long-term care auxiliary therapy workshops, a total of 30 people obtained care attendant training credits; A total of 80 people developed community links among industries, the government and academics; 10 internship contracts were signed. Also, the number of licenses were provided in the following: 30 health care licenses, 7 international physical fitness licenses, 20 first-aid training licenses, etc.
